Making a Beaded Chainmaille Necklace/Choker

This is how I make the beaded Chainmaille necklaces (chokers) in my Etsy shop.  First you need a large amount of different sized jump rings.  I usually use 6mm and 8mm for these particular necklaces.  Also, I find that if all colors are used, it gives the necklace a "vintage look".  You can of course use all the same color or all the same sized jump rings and also change the length to what you would like it to be.  They are very pretty just beaded or a charm can be added.

Open a lot of 8mm and 6mm jump rings. Mix the colors (not the sizes) if you want to.  You will need about 38-42 of the 8mm jump rings.

Start with 1 closed 8mm jump ring.  Start adding the 6mm then 8mm then 6mm then 8mm and so on.  Your chain should start to look like the next picture.

The finished chain should look like this.  Add a clasp of your choice.  This one has a toggle clasp.
The next post will be adding the beads.

Now, open a lot more jump rings.   You will be putting beads (size 06) on 8mm jump rings.  Attach the jump rings, with the beads on them, to the 8mm jump rings on your chain on each side.

The necklace can be left like this or you can go back and add more jump rings, with beads, to the 6mm jump rings on your chain or add a charm or both.
Please visit my Etsy shop for some finished necklaces and also necklaces made from paper beads, earrings and more :)

Kokopelli Chainmaille Necklace/Choker

This Necklace/Choker is about 18 inches long, with a fancy copper tone rose toggle clasp. I used all different color tones of jump rings. Gold, silver, gun metal, copper and antique bronze. This gives the necklace a "vintage look".
The czech glass beads are size 06, tuquoise, black, white and a few red and ywllow. The bottom/center has all white beads that make the silver tone Kokopelli charm stand out. The charm is about an inch high and the clasp is also about an inch.

Beaded Paper Bead Hot Pink Necklace/Choker

This necklace/choker is about 15 inches long. It has a silvertone clasp (no extension).  I made the paper beads from printer paper and colored markers, crayons, printer ink or magazine pages.  They have a coat of craft glue, decoupage glue, clear nail polish.

The beads are hot pink, black, light tan(off white) and light pink.  Size 06 Czech glass beads.
